One night, after a party, his friend messaged me: Lin Zeyan was having trouble at a bar.
I rushed over, only to find Yun Han waiting for me instead, grinning maliciously.
Before I could react, someone pressed a cloth to my face. Darkness closed in.
I woke up to cold water splashing over me.
It was summer break. Lin Zeyan and I had already registered our marriage and confronted Madam Su. Whatever Lin Zeyan had done, no one had bothered me since.
But I’d let my guard down, and now I was paying for it.
Yun Han stood over me, hysterical. “You’ve stolen everything from me—my toys, my snacks, everything I ever wanted. And now you want to steal the person I love? Lin Zeyan should be with me! I liked him first!”
Typical. Always the center of his own universe.
He’d always been the one to take what he wanted, but somehow he twisted it to make me the villain.
I sneered. “Yun Han, do you really think the world revolves around you?”
He scowled. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means you can’t expect everyone to love you just because you like them. Who made that rule?”
He slapped me, but he was weak—just an Omega, after all.
I glared at him. “Even if you kidnap me, you’ll never get Lin Zeyan. He loves me. All you’ll ever get from him is disgust.”
That hit home. He couldn’t stand the thought that Lin Zeyan didn’t care for him. He accused me of being jealous, of mocking him.
He lashed out, but I protected myself, pressing the emergency chip implanted under my skin. It would send a distress signal to both the police and the Omega Support Association.
Yun Han planned to stage my death as an accident, but before he could drag me out, laser beams pinned him to the floor.
Lin Zeyan strode in through the crowd.
Yun Han’s face lit up. “Zeyan, you came for me, right?”
But Lin Zeyan only had eyes for me, gently untying my ropes.
Yun Han lost it, screaming at me.
“Say that again? You know, it’s because of you that I had to settle for a contract marriage!”
“So what? I’m happy with it!” I shot back.
Lin Zeyan immediately stepped in to defend me.
Yun Han looked devastated. “He’s just a Beta! Only a top Omega like me deserves you!”
Lin Zeyan’s reply was brutal: “Someone like you disgusts me.”
Yun Han was stunned.
I stepped out of Lin Zeyan’s arms. “Who told you I was a Beta?”
He panicked. “What do you mean? You’re just a plain Beta. There’s nothing special about you.”
I peeled off the pheromone-blocking patch on my neck, revealing the scent of a true Omega, mixed with Lin Zeyan’s mark.
“It’s fake! It has to be fake!” Yun Han broke down.
I smiled. “Even if I were a Beta, you’d never measure up.”
Turning to the Omega Support staff, I said, “I want to report Yun Han for drugging, kidnapping, and attempting to murder me—a registered Omega. Please process him according to the law.”
As Yun Han was taken away, for the first time, I realized maybe being an Omega wasn’t so bad.
Yun Han was prosecuted. Even if he got out someday, no Alpha would want someone who tried to kill his own brother. The Yun family had completely abandoned him.
Madam Su turned her attention to me, playing the victim, begging for forgiveness, promising to make it up to me.
I’d always wondered why she could be so biased between me and Yun Han. Was it just because I was a Beta?
But now, it didn’t matter.
Beta or Omega, I was still me—always striving, always true to myself.
But compared to before, I wasn’t alone anymore. Having someone to talk to made everything better.
I asked Lin Zeyan, “When did you start liking me?”
He peeled an orange for me. “Does it matter? What matters is that I like you—always have, always will.”
He added softly, “But it’d be nice if you’d make it official.”
Everyone knew the great Lin Zeyan had finally bent for love.
I nodded. “Alright.”
“Lin Zeyan, I think I might love you too.”
He grinned. “Let me correct you—I love you. So, I win. I love you more.”
The first bite of orange was tart, but the rest was sweet.
Lin Zeyan said my life was like that—starting sour, but ending sweet. With him, there would only be sweetness from now on.
